Will Kelowna's Mitch Zorn be Canada’s next country star? You decide!

Local star's big moment to shine

Kelowna-based country artist Mitch Zorn is making waves in the Canadian country music scene as he competes in the SiriusXM Canada & CCMATop of the Country competition.

Zorn is currently in the semi-finals, vying for a spot in the top three and a chance to perform at the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMAs) later this year.

"They pick a few up-and-coming country artists from across the country and group them into a top eight. Then, there's a vote to determine the top three," Zorn explained. "The top three finalists will perform at the CCMAs, which are in Calgary this year, and then a winner is crowned."

Contestants recorded performance videos of original songs in Toronto or Vancouver. Those videos are now open to public voting, which will determine the three finalists.

The winner of the competition will not only earn the title of SiriusXM’s Top of the Country champion but also take home a $25,000 grand prize.

Zorn released his debut single, "Home," in June 2024, but music has been a part of his life from an early age.

"It wasn’t really a professional career option for me at the beginning—it was just something we always did," he said. "There were always guitars and pianos around in my family, and we were always singing at parties. I didn’t even think about pursuing it seriously until I was 17 or 18."

Fans can help Zorn reach the finals by casting their votes online and following his journey on social media.

Voting is now open! You can cast your vote once a day until April 8.
