What's happening in the middle of the Kelowna Art Gallery?

Reimagining the everyday

The open-air courtyard space at the Kelowna Art Gallery is now occupied by a thought-provoking installation that rises towards the sky.

Built on a platform of wooden pallets, the work HANDMADE, by artist José Luis Torres, is a strange 'domicile-like' construction of window frames, doors and glass.

That appropriation of space and materials enables Torres - who is an Argentine based in Québec City since 2003 - to reflect themes of survival, workforce, the value of everyday objects and the experience of being an immigrant.

Take a look at the video.

HANDMADE can be discovered at the Kelowna Art Gallery until May next year.
